Hello all 2011 was a good year for Rae with the album released, gigs all around the UK and new friends all over the world but we intend to make 2012 even better! Now that were all finally in the same place we intend to crack on with creating the next album and playing a fresh set
You could say our ‘new years resolutions’ are . . .
Create the 2nd album
Perform outside of the UK
Start a monthly mailing list to keep everyone updated with our whereabouts
Get involved in connecting as many of the collectives that we know around the Uk and beyond (everyone weve spoken to are saying the same things, they just need to hear/meet each other!)
and im sure theres a few other plans we’ll reveal in the next month or so. . .
After Leonie’s break away in Barcelona for a couple of weeks soaking up inspiration from Spanish, Hungarian and Rajasthani musicians/friends she spent the week in Canterbury getting ready for the Sondry folk autumnal jamboree ( http://sondryfolk.com ) in a Pinetum & the Dawn Chorus closing party of the Canterbury Fringe festival. They ended up being two of the most special gigs we’ve had in a while!
In the Pinetum Leonie played in a straw bale amphitheater next a fire for about an hour and a half and as Lorenzo was unable to make the Dawn Chorus gig we had the pleasure of Owen Henson (from Zoo for you/ Arlet.. links found in our friends page) playing Tenor Sax with us and the sound in the room was one of the clearest we’ve ever had! (helped that the audience were beautifully silent)
Now back in Bristol we’re working on new tunes, booking up gigs for the new year, finishing off a music video shot at shambala fetsival, soon to be on a couple of radio shows and have received a very nice review in Venue Magazine!… http://www.venue.co.uk/music-cd-reviews-r/14080-rae
Two last things…Leonie will be returning to the Lions Den in the Golden Lion on the 22nd Nov and we’ve just confirmed our first ever gig in Brighton alongside the amazing Le Juki http://lejuki.com/ in The Blind tiger club (formally hectors house) on the 9th December!
more updates very soon x

On a pleasant Monday a few weeks back, not long after Syd Arthur and Rae performed to a sold-out Farmhouse crowd, we embarked on a journey to Brighton to master the upcoming album from Rae, Era. We had 11 tracks to work through, so time was tight, but we managed a marathon eight-hour session in the mastering studio to very positive results.
Our debut album will be the next release on Dawn Chorus, and you’ll be able to hear the fruits of our labour in the next few days as we release a track for free download!
Had a productive weekend finishing off overdubs on the album. Thanks to Joel, Rave and Liam for everything look out for the new rae album ‘Era’ released 20th June and tour dates coming soon.. x
